Leadership Coaching

Coaching Leaders and Aspiring Leaders

One of the services I offer is coaching both leaders and aspiring future leaders. Leadership is something that comes from within, and coaching can help to grow this ability so that teams will grow and the impact can be felt across the company.

Some of the essential lessons from coaching are as follows. Keep in mind that these lessons come from the safely of a trusting coaching partnership. Through my powerful questions the strength that already exists within a person is revealed. The basic tenet of coaching is that I believe you have all the answers within you.

Everyone has an imposter syndrome, especially leaders and many of the leaders and aspiring leaders I coach get in their own way. Imposter syndrome is a good thing, it means we are stretching the boundaries of our comfort zone. Learning about our inner critic and sabouteurs can be life changing. Once we recognize the negative voice, we can turn down the volume.

We rarely notice our our blind spots. A coach, though mirroring what I hear and asking probing questions can help you to see the areas you are missing. Once we catch our blind spots, we can lead with more empathy, kindness and effectiveness.

Together we explore your values. Once these are clear you discover that values are like an internal compass to your personal truth. It is essential to learn what your values are and how they can guide you towards making aligned decisions.

To become a more effective leader and to help those we lead thrive we need to find the best version of ourselves and then help it to show up. Coaching conversations will do this.

We have three brains, our head, our heart, and our gut. Many leaders don’t access their heart and instinct to lead. Listening and tuning in will lead to better decisions.

I coach leaders and aspiring leaders who don’t know how to stop working and have a very low work-life balance. How to be effective, hard working and also have a life is something that we all want. Talking to a coach can reframe what contentment and balance look like.

How to delegate is often a big question people bring to coaching. How can I trust someone will do it as well as me? There are many choices here, and talking through how to delegate and how to choose who to assign roles and trust is the mark of a good leader. Coaching is a place where these conversations can map out these hard decisions.

An aspiring leader is often someone who has talent but isn’t sure what leadership looks like. A leader has a solid sense of who they are and why they deserve to lead a team. A coach can help to build that inner leader so that those who wish to lead can find the strength and skill to do so.

The best leaders are present leaders. Learning how to be present and not distracted is a skill that can be sharpened. Coaching is a place of presence and stillness. This is your hour to be still, to consider options, to play in a virtual sand box and to feel what presence feels like. I like to call it “stop to start.”

In coaching we take small steps that can lead to big changes. What we want is insight and transition.

Coaching is a place where we can step back and gain some perspective. What arises is a different view and can lead to less judgement and better discernment.

We all want to work in places where we are seen, heard and happy. A leader who can practice acknowledgment and gratitude, and make this a habit will create places where everyone feels a sense of belonging. This makes work better for all.

We are wired for connection. When we connect and talk, our brains and capacity grow.
